God of War is brilliant in ways I never thought games could be.
This brutally violent mythological adventure was the last place I ever thought I’d find deep, meaningful ruminations on what it is to be a father, and the sacrifices involved. Like Tomb Raider before it, God of War has managed to keep something of its heritage while grounding its previously inaccessible main character and filling the whole experience with depth and feeling. Addictive, engrossing and compelling it’s epic, that’s what it is. And it’s the type of game that when you aren’t playing it, you’re thinking about playing it. It’s the type of game that you can’t put down you always want to do just one last task. It’s the type of game that when you sit down to play it, hours pass by in the blink of an eye. It has been a long time since a game has gripped me like God of War.
This new installment is also played single-player only with Atreus helping Kratos from time to time. This time around, Kratos will not have his double-chained blades but will instead wield a magical battle ax called the Leviathan Axe. His newfound role as a father figure to his son will have him protecting, as well as teaching, his son the ropes of survival. He was able to survive the final encounter with his father Zeus, however, he now lives in the land of the Norse gods with his son Atreus. It has been years since Kratos took vengeance on the Greek gods. A new adventure awaits, and this time it is centered on Norse mythology, not unlike the previous God of War games that are loosely based on Greek mythology. Refreshed in stunning detail, God of War III Remastered shows off realistic muscle striations, detailed facial expressions, and new heightened levels of brutality and gore.God of War is the 8th installment of the God of War series and is the sequel to God of War III. Players will battle in detailed and unique 3D worlds lit by thousands of dynamic lights and higher resolution. Players will be left breathless as they carve through entire armies while navigating on the back of Titans - living levels as tall as the Empire State Building.
